About The Game
Stranded naked on the shore of a mysterious island called ARK, freezing and starving, you will have to hunt, collect resources, craft items, grow crops, research technologies and build shelters to withstand the weather. Use your cunning and resources to kill or tame and breed the huge dinosaurs and other primitive creatures that inhabit the island, and team up with hundreds of other players or hunt them to survive, dominate... and overcome difficulties!
The following features have been in the game since day one of Early Access launch. We have a lot more features and improvements planned for the long-term development of the game, but here's what's available to you right now in ARK:
TAMPER, TRAIN, BREED AND RIDE DINOSAURS IN A LIVING ECOSYSTEM
Dinosaurs, other creatures and their breeding! - Over 50 creatures in early access and 100+ by final release - can be tamed with a sophisticated capture and tether system, including weakening an untamed beast to full stun and then grooming it with appropriate food. After taming, you will be able to give commands to your pet, the execution of which will depend on how well you have tamed and trained him. Pets that level up will require food, can carry items and gear like armor, can carry loot back to your settlement based on their strength, and larger animals can be ridden and directly controlled! Fly a pterodactyl over snow-capped mountains, throw allies over enemy walls, race through the jungle with your pack of raptors, Break into the enemy base on a giant brontosaurus or stalk your prey on the back of a furious T-Rex! Be part of the life cycle of a dynamic ecosystem with your own food chain, where you are just one link among many species of creatures fighting for dominance and survival. FOOD, WATER, TEMPERATURE AND WEATHER
You must eat and drink to survive, using different types of plants and meat, including human meat, with different nutritional properties. An urgent problem is also the provision of fresh water to your home and its supply in inventory. All physical actions consume food and water parameters, so long-distance travel is fraught with a threat to survival! The load of inventory makes you move slower, and the cycle of day and night, together with capricious weather conditions, pose another challenge by fluctuating ambient temperatures, as a result of which your hunger or thirst intensifies. Build a fire or shelter, craft a variety of clothing and armor with customizable appearance to protect yourself from physical damage and extreme temperatures using a dynamic heat and cold resistance calculation system,
COLLECTING RESOURCES, CONSTRUCTING BUILDINGS AND PAINTING ITEMS
By cutting down a forest teeming with trees and extracting metal and other valuable resources, you can craft various elements to build massive multi-level buildings consisting of complex interconnected parts, including ramps, bridges, columns, windows, doors, hatches, remote-controlled gates, water pipes and faucets, generators, wires and all kinds of electrical devices, stairs and more. Many buildings and objects can be painted to enhance the look of your home, as well as pixel-by-pixel paintable signs, billboards with text, and other decorative objects. Shelter reduces the effects of extreme weather and keeps you and your prey safe! Weapons, clothing and armor can also be dyed to enhance your look.
PLANTING, GROWING AND HARVESTING
Pick up seeds from wild vegetation around you, plant them in placed beds, water and feed them with fertilizer (after the food is digested, everyone poops, this feces can then be composted, with some fertilizers being better than others). Take care of your crops and they will grow producing delicious and rare fruits that can then be used to make many thoughtful recipes and healthy tonics! Explore and search for rare plant seeds that have the most potent effects! With this opportunity to master and conquer the ARK in a non-violent way, vegetarians and vegans can thrive!
SUMMON HIGHER FORMS OF LIFE
By using enough rare sacrificial items at special spawn locations, you will be able to attract the attention of one of ARK's mythical god-like creatures, who will arrive to fight. Only the most experienced players with their pet armies will be able to defeat these monsters and get valuable items to advance towards the end goals of the game.
TRIBE SYSTEM
Create a tribe and add your friends to it, and all your pets can be controlled and become allies for any of your tribe. Your tribe will also be able to respawn at any of the home respawn points. Promote tribe members to administrators to reduce the burden of ruling. Distribute items and PINs to secure access to shared settlements!
ROLE COMPONENT
All items are created according to blueprints that have different characteristics and qualities, and require appropriate resources. The more remote and rugged areas of the ARK tend to have the best resources, including the highest mountains, gloomy caves, and deep oceans! Level up your playable character by gaining experience for performing actions, level up your pets and learn new "engrams" to be able to create items from memory without using blueprints, even after death! Customize your character's physical appearance by changing hair and eye color, skin tone, along with a host of body proportion modifiers.
HARDCORE MECHANICS
Everything you craft has durability and wears out with extended use if it's not repaired, and when you exit the game, your character remains "sleeping" in the game world. Your belongings in boxes or on your character can be looted and stolen, so in order to achieve security, you must fortify, recruit a team or have pets to guard your loot. Death is irreversible and means losing everything, and you can even stun, capture, and force-feed other players using them for your own purposes, such as extracting blood for transfusions, collecting their feces to use as fertilizer, or using slaves as feed for carnivores!
EXPLORE AND DISCOVER
The Mysterious ARK is a formidable and imposing environment consisting of many natural and man-made objects placed on the ground, underground and underwater. As you explore its mysteries, you'll find the most exotic procedurally generated creatures and rare blueprints. Explorer Notes can also be found, which dynamically update in-game and were written over a millennium by previous human inhabitants of the ARK, who creatively described the creatures as well as the backstory of the ARK and its animal kingdom. Fully populate your in-game map with exploration, mark points of interest on it, and use your crafted compass or GPS to meet other players with whom you can communicate via local text and voice chat or long distance radio. Build and color signs to to help you find or lead other players astray... And yet... how, ultimately, will you be able to challenge the Creators and conquer the ARK? A certain end of the game is already planned.
LARGE SAVE WORLD AND META UNIVERSE
On servers with around 100 players, your character, your buildings, and your pets remain in the game world even if you log out of the game. You can transfer your character and items between ARK servers using obelisk terminals to download (or upload) your data from Steam! A whole galaxy of worlds, each of which is slightly different from the previous ones - so that you can leave your mark and conquer them one by one. Special themed events will be held in ARK for a limited time with related valuable items!
STRONG STEAM WORKSHOP MOD SUPPORT
You can play single player and move your character and items back and forth between unofficial player servers. Mod the game - Steam Workshop fully supported and Unreal Engine 4 custom editor. See how we made our ARK, use our maps and materials as an example. Create your own server and customize it exactly to your liking. We want to see what you create!
HIGH-CLASS NEXT GENERATION VISUALS
Incredible super-realistic images of the creatures of the ARK world are brought to life using finely tuned Unreal Engine 4, with fully dynamic shading and global illumination, a weather system (rain, fog, snow, etc.), realistic cloud volume modeling, the latest advanced DirectX11 and DirectX12 rendering methods. All this is complemented by music from the award-winning composer of the game "Ori and the Blind Forest", Gareth Cocker!
