A way to check GOG games/goodies files validity.

I checked my collection (and therefore not all GOG rlz) and found these errors :

Age of Wonders 3 DLC Elven Resurgence	Not the last version
Master of Orion				Checksum mismatch
Papers Please				Checksum mismatch

Tested with the versions downloaded here, on GG and on rutracker.

errors possible cause goodies. they must be packed into zip and placed in same folder where exe installer. Also, maybe gog slug code must be used as games downloading folder (exm: \star_wars_battlefront_ii\setup_sw...bla-bla-bla.exe).

The version with size 239 095 664 bytes has the correct checksum.

is there a program where I can load the .dat file and the GOG games y want to check so that the program checks the md5?

Search for ROM managers.
I've been using clrmamepro - https://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/ for years to sort my MAME rom collection, but there are 2 or 3 alternatives.
It may seem daunting to use at first, but there are some good guides out there to follow.

Vastyr's method of checking file validity/integrity is best, but if you cannot find what you're looking for in the .dat files, then you should know that the .exe files for each GOG game contain an MD5 checksum of the .bin file. One primitive way of extracting that information would be to make a copy of the .exe, change the extension to .txt and search the .txt for 01#GOGCRCSTRING. The string to the left should be your .bin's MD5.

I verified this method to be working with a couple of games. While it does work, I couldn't find the MD5 for the .exe. Also, I never tested it for situations where there are multiple .bin's.

This is a crude and cumbersome method, only to be used when you cannot find hashes online.

Just grabbed the updated file for gog. Looks like a lot of files have been updated or fixed since a few weeks.

I'm only missing some patch files for several games if anyone can help?

...and obviously, if admin/mods want any missing files that they know of, please let me know. I've uploaded quite a few missing and updated files earlier today.

Here's a tip for you all to pass on.

Stupid version numbers often have a build number at the end in brackets.

In this case (41922) or (41923)
Whenever the BUILD numbers are similar (between WIN, MAC & NIX), then you will have the latest versions.

BUILD numbers over-rule the silly gog file name versions.
Why? Because G0G make mistakes, they are human.
They can't release another file with the same name/version, so a BUILD version is added in () at the end.
I say this 'lightly'.
GOG have updated many files in the past with no file name change. They still do to this day. With windows files you can check "Digital Signatures".
>>>Right click on the WIN .exe. file >>> Properties >>> Digital Signatures TAB > and you will see a Date/Timestamp. >>> You want the latest

gogdb - https://www.gogdb.org/changelog usually won't report this (it's a silent update), so only owners of the game can help with notifications in their G0G account.

Connie has 'retired' from making the dats, however, someone else is currently working on their versions.
The dats are updated at least once a week, sometimes daily, based on all new updates and new games released by GOG and logged by gogdb, so they should be very accurate.

Let me know if anyone is still interested in using these dat files, and I'll see about getting them shared here,

You are not Alone casper, I think other persons are interested, but many persons don't want or have fear to exposure here, the same when you share a Game or other stuff, you only get 4 or 5 inches up, but when I check the number of downloads, sometimes are 100 or 200 or more.
Personally I think this post very useful.
