Is it possible to "unpack" the contents of games released as .sh and .run files, like games from GOG and LinuxRuleZ?

I think those .sh files are generated by Makeself, so supposedly you can just run
xxx.sh --keep --noexec --noexec-cleanup
to extract the content to current directory.
