Download From Mega Without Quota Limits - A Better Way 2019

As most of you are probably aware, there are at least two existing 3rd party Mega Downloaders that allow you to bypass the download limits that Mega enforces on Free Accounts. While these 3rd party programs like Mega Downloader and MegaBasterd has it's Pros and Cons, it has been through my own experience that one, Mega Downloader only works with single Mega.nz links and does not have full support for downloading files from Mega folders, while two, MegaBasterd has support for downloading files from Mega folders but the transfer of the speed through it's own built in proxy is incredibly slow and horrible.

Today, I will show you Guys a more effective and better way to download files including files from Mega folders fast and without any download quotas using both JDownloader 2 and a Free Proxy List of Free Public Proxy Servers.
So the first thing you will need to have before you begin, will be to get yourself JDownloader 2 from the official site here: http://jdownloader.org/jdownloader2
In case some of you might not be aware of what JDownloader is and what it does, it is a program used to download multiple files from different File Hosts all at once, and the way this works is by cleverly breaking up segments and chunks of the data that is being transferred or sent over from point A (File Host Server) to point B (you) at a much faster rate, allowing more files to be downloaded all at once without any limitation on the size of the files or how many files are being sent.

What is a Proxy? Some of you may have asked yourselves this question. In the simplest of terms, a proxy is an I.P. Address, much like your own I.P., but the difference here is that it is hosted on a country's specific server that allows an individual to use the I.P. Address to unblock, bypass restrictions, and surf the internet anonymously. Some of these country specific web proxy servers offer different levels of anonymity, and the best ones to use are ones that have HTTPS and SSL for the highest levels of security and anonymity. I will cover more about that in the steps for setup below.

The following steps will show you how to get yourself started and set up with using both JDownloader 2 and a Free Proxy List:

1. If you haven't done so already, download the latest version of JDownloader 2 from the official site here: http://jdownloader.org/jdownloader2
JDownloader 2 is supported on PC's with Windows, Mac OS, Mac OS X, Linux, and any Other OS that can run Jar and supports the Java applet architecture.
Be sure to get the proper Installer for your current Operating System Environment.

2. Next, you will need to get a Free Proxy list that you will generate for yourself that will include a list of up to date, Free Public Proxies that contain both HTTPS/SSL with a set of different Proxy I.P. Addresses and Ports from a Country closest to you, that you will select.
Go to the following site: https://www.proxy-list.download/HTTPS

On the site's link listed above, from the web page you will be able to select the Country that is closest to you, and your level of anonymity that you wish to use on a secure line.
Click on the box for Countries and from the drop down scroll down until you come across the country that is closet to you. You want to select the Country closest to you, because this will give you the best and fastest transfer speeds available to match with your own bandwidth speeds provided by your ISP. The closest that you are to a Country that neighbors your own, the faster the data transfer speeds will be, rather than a Country that is further away from you.
So for example, if you happen to live in the United States you would want to choose Canada, and if you live in Canada, then you would want to choose United States.
If don't happen to live in either one of these two countries and you live in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Euro, Asian, Indonesian, or any other countries, then you still need to select the country that is closest to your own from the drop down list of Countries. You will need to click on the box next to the appropriate country to mark the country that is closest to you.

3. Next, click on Anonymity. From the drop down list you can select three choices from Transparent, Anonymous, and Elite which offer different levels of Anonymous presence from low to high. It is really up to you what you decide to have. You can select and mark all three check boxes to have all three or select Anonymous for medium, and Elite for the highest level of Anonymity if you wish.
When you make your decision and have picked what you want, click on the Filter button, and the results of both Steps 2 and 3 will be shown on the page where you will see the sets of IP, Port, Anonymity, and Country specific to what you had entered.

Now just scroll to the bottom of the page, and click on the Download button under the heading that shows: Or download in .txt
This will create a text file named: Proxy List,txt
You can give it a name like Proxy List 12-31-19 or even HTTPS Proxy List 12-31-19 to remind you of the type of level of security you chose, when the updated proxies were generated, and what month, day, and year they were generated on so that you know you have the most up to date and current list of Proxy IP's that you can use.
Save the text file of Proxy IPs that you just generated in a place where you can easily find it.

4. Now, run the Installer for JDownloader 2 that you got earlier, and go through the setup wizard and wait for it to finish installation. Click on the desktop icon, or go to Windows Start Menu if using it for Windows.
Once JDownloader 2 is open, go to the very top of the program window, and click on the button that looks like a Globe. It will be the very last button in the row of buttons right next to the button that looks like a Play button.
This will run a check to see if there might be any newer updates for JDownloader 2, and it will also tell you if you are using the most current version.

Next, at the top of the program window again, click on Settings, which is right between File and Tools. In Settings, look at Max Chunks per Download and change the number to 20.
Then, look at Max simultaneous Downloads and change the number to 5.

Max Chunks per Download allows JDownloader 2 to break up large segments of a file being downloaded into smaller parts for easier and faster data transfer over your bandwidth line and then puts those parts together once the transfer has completed. The smaller the parts of very large files broken into segments are, the faster the data transfer will be.

Max simultaneous Downloads allows you to download multiple files on a single connection and helps with the data transfer speed when combined with the Max Chunks per Download.

Go next to the Settings tab (found near the LinkGrabber tab), and click the tab that will bring you into the Settings window. On the left side of the open window, is a window pane. In the window pane click on Plugins.
On the Plugins window, click on the box that shows Please choose a plugin. Start typing mega, and the plugin for mega.co.nz will come up.
You don't need to do anything further here at the Plugins window.

Now, minimize the window of JDownloader 2 and go to the location where you downloaded and saved your Proxy List.txt from Step 3. Open it to see the list of all the Proxy IPs along with their Ports that you had generated a list from earlier in this guide. Minimize the Proxy List.txt, and then maximize JDownloader 2 to get a full windowed view of the program where you should still be at the Settings window along with the left side pane window being shown.

At the left side pane window of Settings, click on Connection Manager. At the Connection Manager window you will see by default, No Proxy which is enabled. Don't remove or disable this default, as you will need it for connection purposes.
Within the same window of Connection Manager, click on the + Add below, and a box for input will pop up. Here you can click on the drop down to select HTTPS for Type. You can now maximize the Proxy List.txt to bring it into view and select the first IP Address and Port Number you see from your list, and copy and paste those details into the input box for both Host/Port. The IP Address will go into the first field, while the Port Number goes into the smaller field with :

Start adding in IP Addresses and their Port Numbers from your Proxy List.txt into the input box for Connection Manager, and repeat as many times as needed, especially if you have a link to a Mega folder for six or more files.
Example: 6 Files in total from a Mega Folder link = 6 Proxy IP Addresses with Port Numbers that need to be put into the input box for Connection Manager.

Once you are done with this step and you have a good number of Proxy IPs with Port Numbers to accommodate the number of files in total from the Mega folder link you plan to download from, click on the OK button when you have entered your last IP Address and Port Number, and everything will automatically be enabled in Connection Manager for those Proxy IPs that you just entered along with their Ports. JDownloader 2 will use this to cycle through the Proxy IPs for each max simultaneous download for multiple files on a single connection, and in the process will deliver fast data transfer speeds as long as you've remembered to have selected a Country that is closest to you when you had generated your Proxy List.txt.

The last step of this guide is for you to have a link to a Mega Folder with files that you wish to download from. So, click on the LinkGrabber tab, and at the bottom of the LinkGrabber window, click on the + Add New Links button. A pop up box for you to enter in your Mega link for the Mega folder that has the files you want to download from will appear. Simply copy and paste the link or enter it in manually into the box.
Next, using the Browse button, navigate to the drive and directory you wish to save your downloaded files to. It can be on an internal drive like your primary C:\ drive or an external USB HDD drive. It's your choice, depending on how much available storage space you have on your internal or external HDD or SSD drives.
Once you are done, click on the Continue button, and the Mega folder with all the files from the Mega link that you just entered will appear in the LinkGrabber window ready for JDownloader 2 to download for you.

Now, just click on the Downloads tab and you will see the name of the Mega Folder you are downloading from along with all the files that are in that folder. If there is any file within the Mega folder that you do not wish to download you can exclude it, or remove it from downloading, so that you download only the files that you really want. This can be done by selecting a file from the Mega Folder by clicking on it, and then right-clicking and choosing remove to remove the file from view. You can also choose to exclude a file by clicking the box next to it, to unmark it so that it won't get downloaded.

You are now ready to download your multiple files, so click on the button that looks like a Play button which is located directly under File to Start Downloads. This will begin downloading all multiple files simultaneously.
After all files have been completely downloaded from your Mega Folder link, give it time to decrypt the files. Decryption does not take long and is a quick process. You will see both the progress and status of all downloads completed in a graphical progress bar and by percentage indicators and time left, as well as status of the transfer speeds of your downloads.

When all of your downloads have completed, you can easily clear the Downloads list, while keeping what you just recently downloaded. You can do this by clicking on the name of the Mega Folder, then right-clicking and choosing Clear List. This will bring up a prompt box with a drop down that you can select an action from. Make sure that the drop down shows that you want to Clear the Download LIst, and keep all downloads. If it doesn't show it, then click on the drop down and make the proper selection, then click OK to confirm your choice.

I I hope that you all found this guide that I have put together to be helpful and useful to you.
I have been able to gain up to 10.78 MB/s when using this method.

Thanks Guys, I figured there was a better way to download multiple files on a single connection without the download quotas and being able to bypass the limitations on Mega of getting more than one large file at a time without having to wait using both the JDownloader 2 and Free Proxy List method.

I'm half way through my 37 gb download and its telling me that i have reached the bandwidth limit. When I checked connection manager, it showed a thumbs down saying, "Mega.co.nz failed to connect to proxy" on every proxy i added. Did they patch it? Plz help

My original post was from a year ago, the method to bypass quota limits for Mega.nz is no longer effective with JDownloader 2.

There is however a newer method, you can use a Mega.nz downloader that will do the trick and works really well. It also gets updated a lot too.

It's called MegaBasterd, and you can get the latest build here:

You can use the built-in proxy port for MegaBasterd, or you can find some Free Proxy ports to use by Google Searching for some.
When using your own proxies to download files from Mega.nz, make sure that you pick a country that is nearest to you to use, as you will get much better and faster download speeds, example, if you live in Canada, pick free proxies that are in the United States, and vice-versa.

When using Proxies of your own in MegaBasterd, you should follow and keep to this format:

IP Address: Port Number

So for every Ip Address that you enter, you need to add a colon to separate the IP Address from the Port Number, and each IP Address and Port Number needs to be on it's own line.
Example:
IP Address: Port Number
IP Address: Port Number
IP Address: Port Number
IP Address: Port Number
IP Address: Port Number

Just like the above example, but you would be replacing the part of IP Address with a physical IP, followed by the colon, then adding the port number like: 80, 8080, or 3182, or whatever for that IP address.

The URL link that I gave for MegaBasterd has a link to the latest build version, and there is a video on how to generally use the downloader. The Downloader can only be used for Mega.nz, and not for any other file host.

If you need any more help with setting things up in MegaBasterd, feel free to PM me, and I will assist you further with Visual Guidance on what to do. This would be the best approach at getting my attention sooner, as I don't want to feel like I'm writing out a novel here in this forum thread.

I've been using megadownloader for years but the speed is slowing down for no reason, and then i saw that many people are now using megabasterd. Gonna try that later and see if its a good replacement...

In addition to the limit, mega has one more disadvantage with standard loading.
If you interrupt the download of a file, part of it remains somewhere in the system folders (this folder is different for each browser).
And if you download large files, then the hard drive can become clogged with stubs of files.

The wording can be changed to make the search more effective.
The path will be different for each browser.
After that, simply delete the files in the specified directory.

that is because it first downloads to internal browser cache and only then allows you to save file to disk. Not sure why would they do it like that, no one else does this.

I was just going to mention this method for you Guy`s also, But at least the OP knows about it.
I have been using MegaBasterd Windows for quite some time now and it`s Really a good alternative. Some files are still problematic to grab So I have to use a VPN (unlimited VPN) does the job good for me and you can always source a 6 month trial periodically and for free.
